Perennial Seller: The Art of Making and Marketing Work that Lasts

Who is Perennial Seller: The Art of Making and Marketing Work that Lasts for ?

Perennial seller, is a work of art, and timeless. I am  a huge fan of books that allow people to just get to the core of what it is they want to do. Several people have criticized this book for being to simple, but I don’t find that to be the case at all.

The simple fact of the matter is marketing does not change, if someone who understands how to market puts out a whack product it will sell.

While those who are truly creative will struggle, if they have no clue as to where to begin. With that being said some products take time to become hits, while others are instant classics.

Other factors to consider, is that it may be for a small niche market, so it won’t have mass appeal. I believe this book will make it possible to expedite the process for putting out your best work, or business idea.

Another important note, is that its not important to get caught up on platforms, more important that you create something that is actually worthy of  being sold forever.

Perennial Seller: The Art of Making and Marketing Work that Lasts will appeal to the following types of people

  1. Creative types

  2. Entrepreneurs

  3. Dreamers with high ambitions but low success rates

Ideas alone are worth nothing

The first thing most of us want to do ,  is contemplate what social media platforms to post on, how much we want to spend on marketing etc.

But the creative process, has to be thoroughly completed, meaning you have to completely finish your product. If you read ego is the enemy, this is usually the part of the project where people will spend time talking and taking no action.

This ranges from people who can talk for hours on end about how they want to lose weight, or start a business, or make an album, the list can go on infinitely.

But you have to actually create and finish whatever that product is before worrying about marketing.

Everyone wants to be a rapper, or rock star, it looks fun and easy, but there is a b side  that we don’t see. It consists of figuring out how to make the next hit, getting blogs and radio stations to play there songs, and of course actually making songs people want to hear.

The same can be said about sports, we all know some coach potato wasting hours on end, watching sports, claiming they could do it better, wasting precious brain cells, on over analyzing other men.

But in reality athletes have to train and play year round in some form shape or capacity.

You have to be willing to put the work in and to then have critics, capable critics, from your industry tell you what needs to be revised.

You have to be your own CEO and Marketer

Lets say you create a perennial seller, you can just post it on social media, and expect it to go viral, in fact you may know people who create great products and refuse to market because they believe in going viral.

In reality you have to spend time learning when where, and how to promote your products to the right audience, and you may have to spend 5x the amount of time you spent making the product promoting it.

Trust me you can do several interviews and podcasts about your product, but you can’t expect that to be the end all be all. You than have to promote the fact that you’ve been on said podcasts.

You have to be willing to be the artist and business man.

Nobody knows you

You have to invest in ads online, its super cheap and easy to get started, and you also have to get people to post and share your  content.

By running ads, you don’t have to tag all your friends in one post and annoy them, you spend as little as $5 a day, and whatever platform you are on will promote you.

Getting your product out through word of mouth never hurts, but for literally $5 a day Facebook will tell 5,000 people that may actually be interested in your product about you.

Absolute must’s to be a perennial seller, and a summary of the book

  1.  You have to have a blog or website somewhere people can find you outside of social media, in case you are hacked or banned from a site.

  2. You must be willing to run ads for as little as even $60 a month you can reach thousands.

  3. You need to build an email list to reach the thousands of people that like and follow your brand.

  4. Network, and find valuable resources online to grow your audience and skill set

Other books he’s wrote, that I own and have reviewed.

What books do I recommend from the list above?

The Obstacle is the way is a must read, and you can read my review for it here. It is probably his second most complete work in my opinion.

Ego is the enemy is a good read, but I would say skip it, its not really in my top 3 of his works.

Conspiracy is a complete skip, in my book.

The Daily Stoic is definitely a nice compilation, of daily inspiration,

Trust me, I’m lying, is a must read for those, who still believe in a world of organic traffic, and can’t decipher between pr stunts, and real life.

With the Perennial Seller, I would recommend  Seth Godin’s work over this book, but its highlights the importance of creating meaningful long lasting work.

The Same can be said about Growth Hacker As well, there are other authors I would recommend.

Summary

The Obstacle is the way, is a must read.

Ego Is The Enemy, skip.

Conspiracy, skip.

Trust me, I’m Lying, is something that should be read.

Daily stoic, is an absolute must have.

The Perennial Seller, is an okay read I would recommend for people who mindlessly jump from project to project.

The Growth Hacker, has beneficial information over it, I would recommend over or in addition to the perennial seller.
