Why should I read Indistractable by Nir Eyal
Indistractable is a must read for everyone, especially because we shift default blame on modern times and technology.
Can the ease of modern society be the reason we procrastinate or is it something deeper.
Indistractable will help us not only understand our own short comings, but it will also help us understand others as well.
A lot of parents are concerned about the well being of their kids, and the future of our society, and this book is a perfect read for them.
For the Self motivated Indistractable will help you focus more, and cultivate better habits.
The key to both personal and professional success
Focus is the key to both personal and professional success.
Wasting time on digital devices is more of a symptom and not the root cause of our problems.
Society is filled with distractions, and employers impose hectic demands on us in addition to our already hectic personal lives.
A perfect book to pair with this would be Stillness is key by Ryan Holiday.
We have to understand and overcome both internal and external distractions.
We are programmed to seek new experiences
The way we learned and evolved as a species is through negative experiences and we created ways to overcome and negate those negative experiences.
So we learned how to escape dangerous situations, and how to avoid them.
Reassess your internal triggers
Practice self compassion don’t beat yourself up about mistakes you have made. Instead write down and assess why you continue to fall back in to bad habits. Brainstorm about ways to overcome them.
Safeguard your time
I prefer to have my most important things set first to do through out the day and I give myself a time limit to accomplish my goals.
I make time for work family and friends, and limit how much time I spend on each task, carefully so I don’t overspend time.
Being unorganized cultivates procrastination.
This book contains various hacks you’ve heard before, so its a must you practice them, and a must that your teach your kids early the value of time.
Again I highly recommend pairing this book with Stillness is key.
