Do you need alcohol to sleep, a large number of my clients have admitted to using alcohol currently or in the past to sleep.
Melatonin, Gaba & L-theanine are my go to supplements for better sleep, quality sleep . I will make a post about them later.
In this post I want to discuss why using alcohol to sleep is not a good idea.
Using alcohol to sleep to sleep is a cheap fix.
Alcohol is a cheap dopamine boost, and a depressant/stimulant. The dopamine boost, makes you feel god temporarily.
Which is the same effect, you can experience with other depressant/stimulants. You will soon begin to require more and more of a substance, to achieve a particular effect.
There is a point of little to no reward. Almost as soon as you begin chasing that feeling of sedation.
People alcohol to cope with life and feel better about themselves, as well as a slew of other things beyond the scope of this post.
Sleep just happens to be something that a lot of people use alcohol to acquire.
Why can’t I use alcohol to sleep it works for me
Alcohol may help you sleep, but its not meaningful quality sleep. Your brain has to perform certain tasks such as processing memories, and repairing the body.
Your blood sugar suffers, your ability to process carbs, and as well as other bodily functions suffers. You make frequent restroom trips, and you also sweat a lot because of the vasodilator properties of alcohol.
Bottomline
Take Melatonin, Gaba & L-theanine, and do not consume alcohol with these supplements, you can get all three for under $20.
And will not impair your body and allow you to have a nice restorative sleep.
