3 hormones that cause weight gain explained

How can 3 hormones hinder your ability to burn fat, the answer is simple.

How hormones work

They act based on information given to them much like a computer does. Their job is to perform their given tasks as fast and as efficient  as possible.  However, when a computer program gets mixed signals it causes that program to run differently; of flat put malfunction.

Our hormones work the same way.

We are hard wired for homeostasis that is, keep your body the same, no matter what’s going on. This is the reason, dieting or exercising or developing a new habit in general is hard. Your body wants to keep its definition of normal, so if being over weight is normal to your body, that’s the path it’ll stick to.

The problem with normalcy is that, when the abnormal becomes normal, our bodies defy logic and we end up with obesity epidemics.

The 3 hormones that cause weight gain do so, because somewhere some how, their programming got mixed up. It happens especially in this day an age of artificial chemicals, additives and other crap put in food, it’s not surprising that this happens.

Leptin

Created in the fat cells, and it performs the following two tasks:

  1. If leptin levels dip low you’ll feel hungry.

  2. If they are high you’ll feel full.

In obese individuals the leptin levels aren’t properly communicating with the brain, which can set up the perfect premise for preventive and chronic diseases to creep in.

Cortisol

How cortisol works is quite simple it promotes insulin secretion, which can cause our bodies to store fat. In particular in places we really don’t want it to like the waist for example.

Cortisol is associated with stress, because of the role it plays in flight or fight situations. Cortisol can increase appetite as well.

Ghrelin

This hormone is simplistic in design as well, ghrelin is high, which signals hunger  and preps the stomach to get ready to break down food. When its low you feel full.

The wrap up

Sleep, diet and exercise can help regulate these hormones in an effective and safe manner. Limit caffeine and blue light around bed time, make sure your hydrated, and doing things to keep stress low as well.

In addition to avoiding high processed foods, these tips will aid you in your journey.
